This is directed to those with the information - I don't have a circuit,
so can't look into it myself.
Since the problem with the 2090/a is with the fifo overflowing, what
level of hardware patching is needed to implement it? I realize that
the ROM would have to change to make use of it, but that's within the
scope of many hardware hackers, even if it isn't socketed. (I've got a
Z80 to change later today, and I shouldn't have any drama). It strikes
me that there is a lot of potential left in all those 2090a's.
