Ain't multitasking fun?

Your problem very possibly has nothing to do with your interrupt server.  
Consider the possibility that the new code you added is trashing something in 
the system that your interrupt server needs, and when your server runs, the 
system dies.

Look for a blown pointer, or a buffer overrun, or the like.  I just spent a 
week figuring out why some blitter code was causing input.device to die on my 
machine...predictably the input.device was having some stuff it needed ruined 
by a buffer overrun.
