[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Windows and Processes

evtracy@sdrc.UUCP (Tracy Schuhwerk) (02/15/90)

A question (probably easy and laughable) for the Amiga C Guru's (which
I am quite accomplished at calling!)...
I just started messing around with the Lattice 5.04 compiler and some
ideas I have been kicking around so I'm relatively new to C on the Amiga.
The question: I am trying to write a main program that will start a
second process to display a window on the main programs screen (ie: Main
brings up a custom screen with a "Tool Box" window and selecting a tool
will fire off a second process that will bring a window up on Main's
custom screen). I've got the Main and secondary processes running and
with a custom Message Port I've sent the pointer to my screen down to
the secondary process... all looks dandy and the whole works runs and
talks nicely except... The secondary process opens a small "console"
window on the screen that the Main is run on. I've looked through the
manuals (although it was late and I was going nuts because it all
worked first shot outa the head except the dumb little window!) and
decided that the resources here would be much better! I would like to
be able to open the second processes window on my Custom Screen without
the other window (which I would expect is there for stdout/stderr) opening.
If this is so simple that a flame is in order... please do so by mail...
If you have any source code that would help me out... A COPY WOULD BE
GREATLY APPRECIATED!

 	Thanks in Advance!!
