[comp.sys.amiga.tech] CBM is doing us 1/2 a favor...

mwm@raven.pa.dec.com (Mike (Real Amiga have keyboard garages) Meyer) (02/20/90)

In dropping support for the A1000. The favor is in the form of a a
stable platform.

For instance, I no longer have to worry if all my favorite hacks run
on 1.4. Likewise, I no longer have to worry about whether or not what
I'm doing is legal - it's guaranteed that no future upgrade from CBM
will cause such code to break.

It's only 1/2 a favor because CBM has made no indication of letting
anyone have the tools needed to fix any bugs in said stable platform.

The question is, can we convince CBM to do us the other half of that
favor, and let the world have source to 1.3 (licensed, of course -
don't want any people to get ideas about clones!) when 1.4 comes out.
I know that some of the source is licensed by MCC; but the source to
the rest of it, and linkable object to that so we can rebuild the KS
disk ought to be doable.

What about it, oh CATS people?
