[comp.sys.amiga.tech] FF - FastFonts

micke@slaka.sirius.se (Mikael Karlsson) (02/28/90)

Does anybody know what FF does. I know that it's supposed to
speed up text displays. What I want to know is: What does it
DO? Internally and so on.

Thanks

I can't say what it does internally, but I will mention something about it
that a lot of people don't seem to know because it isn't stated in the
1.3 enhancer manual:

You can use FF to replace the default Topaz system font with any 8-bit
font of your choice. I have a font called plain.font. In my startup
sequence I say

FF plain.font

and both the Topaz 8 and Topaz 9e fonts get replaced (if I only had plain 8
defined then only Topaz 8 would be replaced). ALL text that is normally
the system font will now use my font.

One other thing -- don't put a comment on the same line as FF, or it
won't work.
