CMI went out of business several months back. Could someone tell me if their Appletalk board or there other Networking methods were picked up by anyone else. I need a simple solution to sharing a postscript printer amongst several Amigas, at least 7 and maybe more. If you have any tips, hints or clues, I would appreciate an EMAIL response. Thankyou in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lance Hutchinson \\====// phone: (507) 663-6447 St Olaf College \\==// @work: (507) 663-7885 Northfield, MN. 55057 \\// hutch@thor.acc.stolaf.edu

The AppleTalk stuff from CMI was purchased/aquired by a company called DigiFEX, located in Portland Oregon. I spoke with them last week and was informed that the software for this card would be available this coming week. Sorry, I don't have the number for them, but they reside in area code 503, and information has their number. ---Rick

As to sharing a PostScript printer amongst several Amigas, maybe seven or more ... You didn't say which brand of PostScript printer you have, but an inexpen- sive solution is to run serial cables from each computer to a switcher (for this many printers, you may need two, or one in the $150 price range) You may also need gender benders, since most switchers are female, they run between $4.00-$11.00 depending on supplier. Then you run a single serial cable from the switcher to the PostScript printer. Manual switchers are cheap, but if you are willing to spend $60 - $100 more, you can get intelligent switchers which will sense data coming and process the information. Whichever is best depends on size of lab, proximity, budget etc. This isn't the only solution, but it's relatively straightforward and not too costly. (Others are Ethernet, Appletalk, etc.) Julie (LadyHawke@cup.portal.com)
