[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Keycodes

joe@dayton.UUCP (Joseph P. Larson) (03/20/90)

Okay, okay. This has been discussed before. But the volume of c.s.a and .t
got so big, I can't keep up with it anymore, so I'm hoping for an answer
direct.

I'm trying to write a program (surprise). I want to read the keyboard (another
surprise). I want other people to be able to run it.

What *is* the definitive method for doing this? VANILLAKEYS won't work 'cause
it doesn't translate function keys, arrows, etc. Someone posted a file
called "keyboard.c" that opens the console device and queries that for
translations, but it just sits there and smiles at me when I run it. Does
someone out there have something that works, preferrably under Manx?

I mean, everyone who is a serious Amiga programmer has to do this. I really
don't want to slowly rewrite this wheel.
