Every once in a while, one hears references in this group to someone selling
software that they have developed themselves. Once one has a finished product,
how does one go about distributing it? I have had a product "in evaluation"
for over six months at a certain NYC sw house and feel that I must have done
something wrong somewhere along the line. I'd be grateful if people who have
been successful having their sw distributed would send me mail w/r/t the
follwing questions; I'll summarize for the net.
- Which company/companies did you approach initially?
How long did they take to evaluate your product?
- Did you have agreements with potential distributors as to how long they
could take to evaluate your product?
- Did you make exclusive distribution deals?
- Was the product ever in evaluation by more than one company at the
same time?
- Did you distribute the product yourself? Why/Why not?
- What sort of feedback did the co. give you on your product?
Any useful tips on getting something to market (or references to articles
containing such) would be most welcome. Thanks in advance,
