[comp.sys.amiga.tech] More A2286 woes

A while ago I posted a letter about my flakey A2286. It seemed the card
was(is) having problems with RF noise. Rerouting the drive cable to lay
under my expansion cards instead of over cured most of the problems. It boots
90 percent of the time with no problems but when it doesn't here are some of
the symptoms, one of the following will happen:

        1. A Yellow screen after cold boot.
        2. Hangs when the first CLI window opens.
        3. AMouse fails to find process (and PCDisk fails also)
        4. LoadWB will fail. I get a permanent ZZZZzzz cloud on the
           workbench screen.
        5. Bridgeboard fails to find all of it's ram. It will usually
find only 128k, or it will fail to find the expansion ram over
           640K.
        6. Bridgeboard fails to boot at all.
Number 5 and 6 are probably the cause of number 3

With the addition of a VGA card the failer rate is 50%. I know it's not a
problem with the way my software it set up because it DOES work WHEN it
boots properly.

I have seen several posts from people with the same problem as mine.
My feeling is that Commodore knows about the problem but doesn't know what to
do about it. I think they are being hush-hush about it and are hoping it will
go away. If someone at Commodore could responed I would be very grateful.
I don't mind getting it exchanged/fixed but I don't like being kept in the
dark about such a common problem.

BTW my hardware setup is:
      Amiga 2000 rev 6.2
      2091 controler
      A2286 bridgeboard

I too have been having problems with my educational 2000HD. I
never installed my 2286 in the system as I traded the use of it
with a friend for laser printer. However, I've been plagued
with numerous gurus (usually 03, 04, or 0B with 03 being the
most common.) I've also been plagued with the dreaded yellow
screen which means if I recall that a guru happened before
the guru routines could intercept it. I've been unable to
run several animations such as AntiCBS and Sneeze which both
run on a friend's 2000 with one meg and a super-agnus (yet his
isn't a 2000HD.) Another person in the area has a 2000HD and
he has the same problems of the system not booting all the time
(when the 2286 is installed.) Since mine suffers the gurus
without the 2286, I think the 2000HD has a problem in the mother
board although the 2286 magnifies the problem. So how many
other people are having problems with educational 2000HD's?
