I have often wondered why Jerry Pournelle, who has been called "the Howard Cosell of the micro arena," has access to the ARPAnet. In my opinion, it is painful enough to read his work in BYTE. In any case... now Pournelle has gone a little too far. I am referring, of course, to the job offer he posted recently across the ARPAnet. Mr. Pournelle, don't you know that such commercial use of the ARPAnet is strictly forbidden? Why do you have an ARPAnet account? We on Usenet are lucky, in a sense, that for once it was not one of our number who posted such an announcement; I sincerely hope that Mr Pournelle's carelessness will not cause net.micro/INFO-MICRO to close down.
