[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Frame buffers

gilgalad@zip.eecs.umich.edu (Ralph Seguin) (06/06/90)

Hi. I would like to get everybody's opinion on frame buffers (that is,
from those people who have them). Would those people who have frame
buffers, please mail me responses to questions such as the ones below?
I will post a summary if there is interest. I am interested in getting a
frame buffer for doing ray tracing and other niceties. I'm torn between
running two beautiful GUIs: X and AmigaDOS 2.0. Hey, if I get another
monitor, I could run both simultaneously 8-) Perhaps when C= gets around
to releasing their 32 bit board and device independent graphics I won't
have to worry about such things.

Questions:

1. Name
2. Resolutions supported
3. Ports: BNC, RCA, etc
4. Software available for it
   X-Windows?
   Ray tracing software?
   Libraries for programming it?
   etc
5. Expandable?
6. Speed
7. Bugs
8. Features
9. General comments

			Thanks, Ralph
