gmreise@cs.vu.nl (Reisenstadt G M) (06/08/90)
Today (June 8th) I have uploaded two programs to the /incoming/amiga
directory of the anonymous FTP site xanth.cs.odu.edu
These are:
PCopy201.LZH - an update to the version on a Fish Disk (PCopy 2.00) which
did not handle the audio.device as it is necessary and in
very rare cases could crash the machine. This version
is fixed for that.
In general, PCopy is a very nice copier for AmigaDOS format
disks, with some advanced options as Salvage.
TrackSalve131.LZH - a highly updated version to the TrackSalve's so far
posted/released. This version used better routines
and now also offers a MFM Update, which helps unused
sectors MFM timing bits to survive... Check the
tech.doc for more details.
In general, TrackSalve patches the trackdisk.devices
to remove all known errors and on a per drive basis:
- NoClick on/off
- Salvage on/off - salve on a track basis
- Write Verify on/of
- MFM Update on/off
These programs were all given to me by the Author, Dirk Reisig, for this
purpose and are Freely Distributable on a non-commercial basis.
He also send them to Fred Fish, but since mr. Fish is very busy nowadays
they are also uploaded to xanth.cs.osu.edu.
Greetings,
Marco Niese.
(Send me some reactions if you like them, perhaps suggestions, and if they
are interesting enough I may convince Dirk to get his eyes of his 1950 and
look at them :-))
