I'd like to build a modem to use with my home computer (I'm very cheap) and I need some information. Low speed modems (300 baud) use FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and there are plenty of chips around that will do the frequency shift modulation/demodulation. In fact, there are "modems on a chip", thus making low speed modem design a snap. Unfortunately, I want to build a 1200 baud modem, and the Bell 212 standard uses Phase Shift modulation. Are there chips available to do PSK mod/demod? At what price? Does anyone have any design tips (or actual designs - I'm not proud)? Any info will be appreciated. Please reply to me. I'll post a summary of what I find out to the net. Mark Gauldin ihuxf!gauldin
