Does anyone know where I can get one of the god forsaken
DP8421AV-20 DRAM controllers that are used in the FRANCIS board?
I haven't been able to reach the guys at AmiWare in canada and
the only guys that have them around here want me to buy 2 because of
their minmum order ($50 )!
If someone else out there is in the same situation, let me know, I'll
buy two and sell the second one for cost (about $25...)

One place to look for Frances DRAM controller is : Amiware, 3640 Weston Rd., Weston, BBS (416)737-7358 Ontario, Canada M9L 1W2 Order (416)737-7385 I got mine there along with 68020 & 68881 last November. I think they still carry the DRAM controller chip. If you can't find it, it might be worth a long distance call there. K. C. Lee I have no associations with Amiware except as a happy customer...

When I was looking into the NSC chip about a year ago, National had
a sample blister pack that was widely available with one chip included. You
might check again with the dist and make sure they can't get that sample pack
for you. The chip has nice specs, but doesn't actually perform to those specs.
:-( For the Frances board, the chip should work fine though...
I'm suprised the Samsung doesn't work... I know their new one probably
wouldn't, be the old one (8421) should work fine, with probably better noise
immunity.
