Is "Impress" a new hard drive manufacturer, or did someone misspell "Impris" ?
I can't recall seeing any "Impress" hard drives...

Would you belive Imprimis?

I believe that's the name you're looking for. Previously known as CDC.
Makers of Wren and Swift series drives, etc.

Yup.. Seagate bought 'em... What's this world coming to.

Our misspelling poster was referring to "Imprimis", Control Data's
drive subsidiary that was (unfortunatly in my opinion) sold to
Seagate.

Imprimis is a mainframe class drive manufacture. Their products
include the Wren and Sabre line of drives which go right up to 2 GB of
capacity and an 8" media that is a rackmount form factor. A
completely different level of hardware than we deal with for our
micros (although many of the Wren drives have SCSI versions, the bulk
of their drives are OEM stuff for major manufacturers of drive
subsystems and tend to have SMD, MCSP, or similar interfaces).

They also have a reputation for being execellent drives in terms of
speed, capacity, and reliability. Let us hope Seagate doesn't affect
this.
