[net.micro] A 16032 is . . .

keaton (02/24/83)

A 48 pin 32 bit microprocessor with a 16 bit data bus. It directly
addresses 16Mb of memory, has virtual memory capability, etc. It's made
by National Semiconductor. It sounds a lot like the 68000 except it is
supposed to have better performance. It is part of a family -- there is
also a 16016 which is similar but less powerful, and can execute 8080 code
directly by flipping a mode bit in the status register. There's also the
32032 which is an enhanced 16032 with a 32 bit wide data bus. I don't
know how many of these are available yet -- I'm fairly certain that at
least the 32032 is *not* available. Perhaps we can be further enlightened
if National is on the net.
