Accepting Applicants for CATS Positions ======================================= August 13, 1990 We are currently accepting applicants for a variety of technical in the Commodore Applications & Technical Support group. The CATS group provides support to third party developers of software and hardware for the Amiga and other proprietary Commodore computer systems. The CATS technical support group provides phone and network assistance to registered developers, and supports development by providing programming examples and guidelines, utilities, technical articles, and developer manuals. Inside Commodore, this group provides a link between the development community and the hardware and OS designers, and offers valued input during the design and testing of new software and hardware. The administrative side of this group handles all non-technical aspects of developer support including the developer database, orders, developer's conferences, and marketing support. CATS offers a varied and challenging work environment with high visibility and growth potential. Responsibilities ---------------- o To provide hardware development support to third party developers and others as necessary through direct contact, telephone, electronic mail, and electronic information systems. o Research and provide solutions to developer questions. Can include testing hardware, communicating with Commodore's R\&D staff, and writing test programs. o Write technical articles and assist in the development of hardware developer documentation as needed. o Handle bug reports and follow up to determine a resolution or workaround. o Test new system and development hardware and software. o Keep up on on all technical aspects of Commodore systems, as well as new developments and emerging standards in the hardware area. Such standards include file formats and the compatibility, interoperability and synchronization of multiple multimedia applications and hardware add-ons. Hardware add-ons can include video disc and tape players, SMPTE and MIDI interfaces, and video and audio peripherals such as digitizers, genlocks, frame buffers, etc. Responsibilities ---------------- o Research and development of current and proposed multimedia standards including experimentation with multimedia systems. o Writing technical specifications of standards and participate in the development of other developer documentation as necessary. o Maintenance of file format standards. o Developing programming examples.
