I've been having some minor problems with text communications lately and am wondering if anybody can recognize a problem here, or better yet a solution. Using Whap! on compuserve for probably 4 months, I would consistently get misplaced text (not line noise or garbage) in the current message I was reading. I wrote it off to either CIS/Whap! or my modem at the time, but lately the modem died and I quessed that a MNP5 modem might fix this. I bought a Baud Bandit 2400/MNP5 last week and it looks like nothing has changed. I've been on CIS once since getting the new modem and without using Whap! I still got the misplaced text. It looked like MNP was in effect because I got a "CONNECT 2400/REL 4" when signing on. After getting out of CIS I called a local BBS and about 400 - 500 bytes into their logon messages I saw some more misplaced text, mentioning something about Ray Tracing, which was the subject of the last messages read on CIS! Both with the old and new modem I haven't noticed any problem with binary file transfer. This 'misplaced text' is usually only about 10 - 15 characters but at times with Whap! it has really caused problems by appearing in the message header.
