Please send replies to UN106153@WVNVMS.WVNET.EDU. I am using a friend's account. I've been looking at ways to decrease the time needed to transfer from a floppy to hard drive and back for users with over a meg of ram. The quickest way I've found is to use RAD: as an intermediate device. Using this approach I diskcopy from RAD: from floppy and from floppy to RAD:. The WB1.3 diskcopy copies from RAD: to floppy and floppy to RAD: in less than a minute. The slowest phase is the filecopy from hard drive to RAD: and RAD: to hard drive. So, does anyone know of a faster way to do these transfers? I know the time required to transfer one large file may be shorter than the time required to do what I've outlined. But, when you have hundreds of 2K files my way is faster. If not does anyone know of a faster diskcopy which will accept RAD: as a valid source or destination? I've mounted RAD: using the fast filing system and the filecopying was much quicker. But, when I tried to diskcopy I received an error basically stating RAD: couldn't be found. Are there any diskcopiers which will copy between the fast and standard filing systems? Thank you Shane Saddler UN106153@WVNVMS.WVNET.EDU
