I'm looking into doing the Amazing Computing RAM hack to my A1000. I know that at one point, someone (Dave Haynie I think) made a modification to it, which mapped it at $00C00000 rather than $00080000 (which makes the ROMs think its fast memory, and you don't have to run AddMem). I'd like a copy of this modification, so that I can do it to my machine if I do the upgrade. Further, I was thinking about the upgrade last night, and it occurs to me that it should be possible, with a few more chips and some extra power, to decode 3 extra banks of memory (rather than just 1), at C0, C8, and D0. Has anyone played with this idea? I've not done enough playing with hardware to trust my own design for it. My thoughts so far are to pop in another set of 399/138 chips used for bank determination, which should give me control wires for 1.5 M. Wire appropriately to respond at C0, C8, and D0. I'm sure there is something tricky about the procedure though. All help appreciated. Please mail responses, I'll summarize if enough others are interested (anyone else still running an A1000?). --- Gregory Kritsch | University of Waterloo Fido: 1:221/208.11110 [1:163/109.30] | 1A Computer Engineering UUCP: ggk@tirith.UUCP |-------------------------- ...!watmath!xenitec!tirith!ggk | Amiga Fanatic
