[comp.sys.amiga.tech] An Amiga GCC Port

smr@beach.cis.ufl.edu (Samual Rushing) (10/23/90)

The latest version of our port of GCC, built on top of PDC, is available
in the states from titan.ksc.nasa.gov (128.159.4.20), in the directory
[anonymous.amiga.gcc]. This version does not require any proprietary
software - we are using GCC, GAS, and PDC's libraries, includes & BLINK.
(Actually, you'll need a copy of the Amiga headers from somewhere...)
It is in need of testing. It has so far compiled itself, AMXLisp,
various GNU utilities, and some other amiga software.

If you're currently using a version grabbed from funic.funet.fi, please
do the download again, because a lot of problems have been fixed. The
archive at funic should be updated soon.

Just to know before spending the time to download. What are the
memory requirements of GCC on the Amiga?

The cc1 executable is approx. 570K - you can probably compile reasonably
small programs in as little as 1.5 Megs. We needed 3 Megs to compile
cc1 itself, with optimization.
