Concerning the colon on the home key....... I imagime it is for the convenience of programming in BASIC. In cbm basic, the colon is used as the logical line delimiter, which tends to be used quite heavily due to the structure of the basic. Some of the other more commonly used keys also follow this pattern, usually being unshifted rather than requiring a shift (eg, the '+' and '*' symbols). As the systems seem to be designed primarily for the novice programmer, my conjecture is that this is an intentional design 'feature', though I also find it annoying at times even though I am not a touch typist, but do move regularly from keyboard to keyboard. (BTW, is it time to resurrect the idea of a separate subgroup for VIC and C-64? I think net.micro.cbm was suggested. I have several comments, questions which I would like to put out but hesitate to submit to net.micro as they are of specific cbm interest.) Steve Taylor NC Educational Computing Service
