[comp.sys.amiga.tech] SCSI HD Freezes the whole system

auyeung@iris.ucdavis.edu (Tak [UlTech] AuYeung) (11/06/90)

My Supra 20M SCSI drive gives me the following problem:

When reading (e.g. using more) certain files, the system will freeze
at some fixed point of the file. The busy LED of the drive is on, and
the screen freezes, no Guru reported. Sometimes reloading the file
will fix the problem.

I believe the problem is associated with the drive rather than the
files. Are there any PD/Shareware utilities that can check the
integrity of a HD, or check the files one by one?

Any help / info will be appreciated. Thanks! (please send by email,
I'll summarize)

Help!!! My Amiga 200HD also does this. When I turn on the Amiga first
it will boot up, but when I try accessing the HD, the light comes on and the
whole system hangs. No Guru. No nothing. The system is less than 3 weeks old.
I have done three low-level formsts, and still the probem remains.

                                  Please Help Me!!!
