This is a follow-up of the previous article asking for help with a Supra SCSI HD setup that sometimes freezes my A1000. According to the messages I have received so far, there are mainly three types of responses: 1. There are utilities to check HDs for errors and remap the HD. "dv" is one of the disk verification utilities. 2. The problem is that the Supra driver cannot handle bad sectors, so blame Supra. 3. Call up Supra to see if they have corrected this (probably software oriented) problem. Thanks to all who responded! --Tak AuYeung ___ # # ===== How do I know if you are real or not? +-- /-+-- (__/\ # # # # ===\ /=== # # >>>>> auyeung@iris.ucdavis.edu |X/-+ /[[]] O/O) # # # # ----| #---# >>>>> Tak-Ying "UlTech" AuYeung +- /' |---- \-/| \===/ \=== # ===/ \=== # # >>>>> A self-conscious entity / \ |/\'\

According to the >messages I have received so far, there are mainly three types of >responses: I have never had a software problem with My Supra setup on my old Amiga 1000. However, I have had a freeze up or 2. I have encountered this while running the latest software from them (5.10? or 1.10? the one which supports scsi_direct) after I installed the Midget Racer with 68020. I found what happened was I had blind reads set. I looked into the manuals and they suggested that I unset this if I have done anything to my CPU speed. While my 68020 is not running any faster, it does have an internal Instruction cache, so I tried unsetting blind reads. I have not had a problem since (almost 1 year now) with my amiga. The system is Amiga 1000, Midget Racer w 68020/68881, Microbotics Starboard 2, Alegra 2 Meg board. brian moffet
