The original Kickstart disk I got with my 3000 was corrupt. But the version installed on the harddisk works just fine. I got a replacement disk from the dealer which turns out to be a more recent version. What is the generally accepted mechanism for getting this newer version onto the harddisk? -c -- cire|eric "I could have done it in a much more complicated way", said the Red Queen, immensely proud. -- Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland Eric B. I dug around the A3000 Install disk to find a script that does: Makefiles df0: 2.0 WB_2.x:Devs/kickstart and executed this from a cli. I also noticed that in SYS:Tools there is the same script "update2.x" along with "Makefiles". Now, i am not technically knowledgable in the underlyings of amigados but you *should* be able to do the following.... cd SYS:Devs rename kickstart kickstart.36.141 ; or appropriate # sys:tools/update2.x The "rename" is only important in the event somehow kickstart is still "open" by the system (you don't want to trash it if it is) Again, i had still booted on floppy kickstart/a3000 install when i updated so you're on your own, but i'd be willing to give it a try. (I just don't like to execute "icons" and scripts without knowing what they do) --stephen -- $! stephen dowdy $! MicroAge Corporate Headquarters (sun!sunburn!romed!stephen) $! BITNET: sdowdy@unmb $!
