[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Interesting external drive problem

DXB132@psuvm.psu.edu (11/29/90)

A friend of mine is having a very strange problem with his external drive
on his 2000 w/ AT bridge/2091/RAM card/1 internal floppy system...

Whenever trackdisk steps the head of the external drive to check diskchange,
it screws up any accesses to DF0: that are going on! He gets the full range
of annoying AmigaDOS requesters, including (interestingly enough) "You
MUST put the disk back!" (no disk has been removed!). The drive seems to be OK
(it works on my 2000), and the drive otherwise works OK on his system too --
that is, he can read & write just fine. The problem goes away when the there's
a disk in the external drive. It also goes away if the drive is unplugged at
any time (including long after booting up). Is this problem weird enough for
you??!! :-)

I have a complete reassemblable/relocatable disassembly of trackdisk that I
can RamKick, so I can do any mods you might think of with ease, if neccessary.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
