I got an Allied catalog in the mail recently. Anyone out there remember them? Apparently someone bought them from Tandy, since the cover says "Subsidiary of Spartan Manufacturing Corp." Anyway, on page 19 they list Ampex Pyxis 5 1/4-inch winchester disk drives. The reason I am bothering to post this is the prices (this is not an ad for Allied or Ampex). They list 5, 10, 15 and 20 Mbyte for $930, $1095, $1325 & $1540. Mind you, these are catalog prices, and the bottom of the page says "Prices subject to change -- we always ship at the lowest price in effect." Knowing catalog prices, you can probably get drives like this much cheaper than that! Dang, I may talk myself into getting me a home computer one of these days! Wm Leler - UNC Chapel Hill
