>From the most recent issue of EE Times...
"TeleVideo announced that is was coming out with a
less-than-$100 moouse, complete with RS-232C interface.
And of course, Apple's new LISA uses a mouse. You can
add to this rumors of furious software development,
LISA-style, across the industry. There's also the new
software from VisiCorp that will have a mouse interface.
Also, Texas Instruments is getting into the act with
promises of a mouse for its new [8088 based] TI
Professional Computer. While the present cost of a mouse
runs in the $100 to $395 range, depending on the type ...
[there's] at least one project ... that'll put the price
of the mouse in line with low-cost personal computers.
Look for a mouse-like device -- it won't be called a
mouse -- in the next few months that plugs into the game
ports of computers like Commodore's VIC-20 and Atari's
400/800/1200XL ... No prices as yet, but ... $29.95
[is a reasonable possibility]."
I'd like to hear from people using various brands of mice, so that I can
compile a list of vendors and specs. OK, all you mouse owners out there...
here's your chance. If you'd like to respond, here's the info to include:
1. Manufacturer (including address and phone number, if possible)
2. Model Number(s)
3. Basic size and shape (rectangular, hemispherical, etc.)
4. Number and orientation of buttons
5. Mechanism (e.g. mechanical, optical, etc.)
6. Resolution
7. Interface(s)
8. Standard features (e.g. interface included, optical "mouse-pad", etc.)
9. Optional features (e.g. interfaces for specific machines, software, etc.)
10. Price, in single quantities
11. Availability
Send all replies to DAN@ML. I'll compile the info and send it to the list.
