anybody out there who has got a solution to the following problem ? : my amiga gets stuck on booting msdos when its waiting for something on the keyboard. this problem occurs reportedly only on some keyboards. supposedly the low level keyboard access routines dont wait long enough. any suggestion ? thanx arnd merlevede -- reply to : admerlev@faui43.informatik.uni-erlangen.de

Couple of possiblities... Get a new keyboard, the only ones that had
this problem were those real early Cherry keyboards. The newer HiTek keyboards
or the Northgate Ultra don't have the problem. Or, if you have a 2620 or 2630
installed, SetCPU has a keyboard patch routine that can be enabled with the MMU.
I haven't tried this with the Transformer, and I know you have to disbale the
caching and burst modes to use Transformer, but it may work... :-)

The newer HiTek keyboards I have one of those real early Cherry keyboards. :-) I do encounter a program that screws up the keyboard handshake from time to time, but I've always been able to patch the program to fix the problem. It should be noted that not all keyboards are the same, and you MUST abide by the specifications in the hardware manual (unless you want your program to work ONLY on Amiga 500s like some of those stupid programmers out there that never even heard of hard drives...:-)) -- Dan Babcock
