[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Problems with GVP HD + Golem HD

her@compel.UUCP (Helge Egelund Rasmussen) (12/18/90)

I've just bought one of the GVP 3001 cards (2mb + 28 Mhz 68030)
with a 40 Mb Quantum HD, and now I have some
problems with my old harddisk (an old 'Golem' ST506 40mb autobooting HD).

I changed the Golem drive name from dh0: to dh1: and changed the boot
priority to -1.
Then I formatted the new quantum hd, and called it dh0:

The problem is that when the GVP card is active, then dh0: is ok, but
dh1: is "not amigados" (dh1:NDOS in the workbench).
When I disable the GVP card, then the Amiga boots from dh1: and all is
ok (I can't of course use the quantum disk in this mode).

I of course want to use both HD's in 68030 mode, but the big Question is
HOW???

Do I need to write a mountlist entry for the dh1: drive, and then mount
it with the MOUNT command in the startup-sequence? (if so what should
the mountlist entry contain?)

The other possibility is to autoboot from the old golem disk, and use
the GVP disk as the secondary disk.
If I should do that, then I need to know how to disable autoboot on the
GVP disk... Is the only way to remove the autoboot EPROM from the GVP card,
should I use the mountlist entry found in the topdirectory of the GVP
installation diskette?

How.. When.. Where?? :-) :-)

This is a lot of questions, but the docs which follow the GVP card is
rather short, and doesn't describe this situation at all.
Also the AmigaDos description of the MountList file is rather short (to
put it mildly).

Any help would be appreciated...
