Before you go hog wild:  LS 4.0k has a bug which causes it to write
one more byte to its allocated memory than it has allocated.  Can
cause crashes under some circumstances.

Is Kim de Vaughn still out there somewhere?  I haven't seen him here
or on BIX in some time.
