[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Null Modem

nishan@uop.edu (Nishan Sandhar) (10/09/90)

I need to transfer files (ascii & compressed [.lzh, .lhw, .arc, etc])
from an NCR 386SX to the Amiga 2000.

Would I be able to use a null modem setup, and if so, exactly
how would it be set up? What kind of cable, software, etc. would
I need to do the transfer.

I could also use a PS/2 Model 60. Would the setup be the same for that
as well?

I've got lots of stuff I needed to transfer.... a couple of megabytes, so
I didn't want to use floppy disks or something.

I have an amiga 2500/30 and an old amiga 1000. I also have some problems
with a C program I am developing. I have recently obtained the enforcer
and mungwall and planned on using them to help me find some problems.
While the docs say that I can use a terminal program and have the modem
echo back the informatiojn sent to the serial port, when I try this many
characters are lost and it is quite slow (also the terminal program itself
seems to cause quite a few 'hits' that enforcer catches.

Anyway - getting to the point - I wish to use my old A1000 as a dumb terminal
and connect it to the serial port of my A2500/30. I plan on running the
terminal program on the A1000 and get the debugging info there.

How do I build a NULL modem cable to connect the A2500 and A1000?

Thanks for any info you can give.
