Could somebody offer some advise? A researcher at our Uni. purchased 2 addin cards for her Amiga 2000. One was a Amiga 2630 accelerator card with 2Megs of 32Bit memory, and the other a GVP Series II A2000-HC+8 hard card fitted with a 3.5" 100Meg SCSI Quantum harddisk but no added memory. Both were fitted as per supplied instructions, including checking any jumpers (all of which were in the correct position according to the manuals.) THE PROBLEM! Each works perfectly on its own without the other installed, however when both the accelerator and hard card are installed the Amiga crashes on bootup always giving a Guru Error of the type 00000004.????????? which we take to be an "Illegal Instruction" error. We guess that it could be a memory addressing problem as the 2630 has 2Megs of expansion ram and the hard card can hold up to 8Megs of expansion ram(though none is added.) Yes we have checked the jumpers on the GVP hard card to check that they are in the correct position for no added ram! COMPLICATIONS First the 2 boards were purchased from different supplier's !!?? The Amiga also has anouther 2Meg Ram expansion card added, however we have tested the machine with and without this card and it seems to make NO difference. The Amiga also has a older 2090 hard disk controller card which is used with a Segate ST225 20 Meg harddisk. We tryed booting with and without the drivers for this card but again it made no difference. Finally the mother board in the Amiga is the 4-layer motherboard from Germany. This requires that the 68000 CPU must be removed when installing the 2630 accelerator card. We did this and the card works ?? Thankyou to anyone that can offer advice. ps. Is there a 100Meg Hard Card that has extra memory and a 68030 and 68882 in one. -- Neil Huck, huck@murdoch.edu.au Computer Services Unit, Phone (09) 332 2767 Murdoch Uni., Murdoch, W.A., Fax: (09) 310 2653 Australia, 6158
