Ok, I said I was never going to buy another unit from CBM (been saying that since the days of the PET) but my A2000 is getting dated and the Power Up Program seems a good deal and my kid needs a HD on his 500 and .... So, I really haven't been following the 3000 closely since it's launch but have seen it in stores, at COMDEX & UNIFORM and read about it here a bit. Some questions, can the SCSI controller handle a Maxtor 380 ? My old A2090 won't. What sort RAM does the beast like ? SIMMS ? which flavor ? Cost / MByte ? Will my 2000 Flavor Live! work ?? (bet not). Have they fixed the brain-damaged RS232 port that on the 2000 would allow you to zap you power supply by extending +/- 12 right to ground with a 25W flat cable ? (I speak from experience, the power supply protects the fuse by blowing :-)# What is the state of WB 2.0 ? In ROM yet ? (I said I haven't been paying attention..). What breaks from 1.3 to the 3000 environment ?? What about display issues ? Plan to use existing 1084S or 2020 at first, whats a good monitor to take advantage of new modes ? Is there a working TCP/IP yet ? NFS ? Solution to tie 500's in? Anyone port DNET to SYSV env. yet ? (Streams based ?) I have several machines to tie together here in case you haven't guessed. Right now all Amiga's are terminals behind a 386 running Interactive 2.2 and I did run the Amiga uucp stuff to work bout year + ago prior to snarfing the 386. What is the state of the Amiga uucp & news effort ? Has Matt Dillon been canonized yet ? Surely Fred Fish has.. Like I said, I haven't been paying attention. Thanks for any and all answers... Mail welcome (watch return address!). Will summerize upon request. Hope all of this isn't in a FAQ somewhere.. If it is, feel free to flame me to a crisp... (followups to comp.sys.mac... :-)# PS: What about hardware issues with the 25/50 and the Amiga release of SYS V rel 4 ?? Possible ??
