[comp.theory.dynamic-sys] Torque Testing

cmontgom@emdeng.Dayton.NCR.COM (Conrad.A.Montgomery) (02/09/90)

Have a question for the netters and not sure where to post. This was
my best guess, so here goes...

Am currently working on a printer development program. We are
dangerously close to first production, and seem to be experiencing
torque problems with our stepper motors (i.e. are they producing
enough torque for our system).

Therefore, I performed analytical load torque calculations, but am
having problems with obtaining the effects from friction, etc.
Since no room for error is acceptable, I would like to test our machinery
to see what torque it takes to accelerate our load. I understand that
the test equipment to do this consists of a strain gage (w/ other assorted
equipment, i.e. signal conditioners, etc.) mounted to a shaft between the
motor and the load; thereby measuring the twist in the shaft to get torque
requirement.

My problem is that everyone is willing to sell me the equipment, however,
I just don't have the time to order and assemble it. Thus my question is:

Does anyone know of an organization that is capable/willing to do this
type of testing (rather quickly...2 or 3 weeks)?

Your help and patience in this matter is sincerely appreciated.
