  Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for
      Black American Scholars

In academic year 1991-92, the University of Maryland at College Park
will make available five postdoctoral fellowships to support the
research projects of outstanding Black American scholars. The postdoc
would begin July 1, 1991, with possible renewal for a second year.
The stipend is $34,000 to $36,000 plus $3,000 for travel or research-
related expenses.

NOTE: the deadline for application is March 1, 1991.
Supporting materials (letters of recommendation etc.) can be a somewhat
later.

This year two of these postdocs have been mathematicians, Walter Miller
and Mark Kellum.

Eligibility: Black Americans (citizens or permanent resident aliens) who
will receive the Ph.D. from an accredited university by July 1,1991, or
who have completed the degree within the past four years.

A candidate for the postdoc must be sponsored by a faculty member here
with common research interests.
   -----------

I am not a part of the administration of this program; however, because
the deadline for application is so close, if you are interested in this
postdoc it would be most efficient if you contacted me directly about your
research interests, application forms, etc.
