The A.G.M. will start at 6 p.m. (8 May) followed by an address entitled :
*** "Parallel Processing and Market Forces" ***
Dr. Brian Oakley

Wed. May 8, 1991
Dr. Oakley will be looking at the potential of parallel processing technology
and the features and infrastructure which facilitate or inhibit its diffusion,
with special reference to the development of parallel processing in the U.K.
He will then attempt to forecast the next stage of market penetration by
parallel processing, and to identify the problems that have to be tackled to
get to that point.
Dr. Oakley was Director of the Alvey Programme - a five year advanced research
programme begun in 1983 and costing 350 million pounds, mounted in response
to Japan's Fifth Generation Computer Systems Initiative.
