[comp.sys.handhelds] Re^2: Handheld for school use..?

I must agree with Alonzo's sentiments per the HP28S, but it is
*probably* a bit too much for a 12-year-old... to either need, or to
have to worry about. I know I'd be a bit worried going to jr. high
school with a $150-200 calculator in my backpack!

You might want to consider TI 55-III; it is [marginally] programmable,
and the book that comes with the calculator has lots of useful
examples, including programming the quadratic formula [a perenial(sp)
favorite of jr high math]. This calculator should be something like
$35-45 [$45 is a BIT high... look for better price if this is all you
can find!]

I am not up on the price of the HP27, or the HP42 - but both of these
are excellent calculators. I would just consider carefully before
sending a $100+ calculator into the public school system...

Hope this helps, and happy hunting...

Tony
