[comp.sys.handhelds] HP28S/C Book Proposal

bmaraldo@watserv1.waterloo.edu (Commander Brett Maraldo) (12/10/89)

I would like to publish and print a book containing programs
and articles pertinent to the HP28 series of calculators. I'd like people
to send me their programs and what-not to include in this book. Most
important: I'd like to know what you think of this idea, how much you;d
be will to spend on a 200-300 page book full of programs, etc, and any
comments and suggestions you have. I have sent a letter to the various
people who's articles I already have in my personal archive; that letter
appears below. What do you think? and send my your programs. I'd
like to start the book in Jan 1990 andhave it ready for the spring.
It would be non-profit and I'd only make a limited number of copies.

*** letter sent to various people:

Hello. My name is Brett Maraldo. I own an HP28S, and I think its
the 'bees-knees'. I have been collecting articles and programs from
various sources for the 28C/S, mostly comp.sys.handhelds. I would like
to compile the programs neatly into a book for other users of the 28C/S
who either don't have access to the net or who haven't saved the articles
for their own uses. Based what what I have so far, the book would be
about 200 pages long (or 100 double sided pages). I, of course, wouldn't
make a profit on the sale of the book. I would ask slightly higher than
what it would cost to photocopy and bind the book to cover my time (only
a few dollars, if that).
I'd like to start the book in January. Would it be alright to
use your programs, notes, etc. in this book? Below is a list of the
people this message went out to and the programs, etc. that you have
posted and that your acknowledgement concerns. Please reply with
a yes or no and any comments or suggetions *and* other programs, etc you'd
like to be printed in the book. I'd like all replies back by Dec. 31/1989;
ifyou do not reply by then I'll assume you do not want the articles published
in the book.
