Yep, I just got my Portfolio. It really is a fun machine to use. It will take a while to find a work-style, i.e., how to partition the 128Kb internal RAM, should I leave a RAM card (the A: drive) always installed, etc. I have two 128Kb RAM cards which I hope will hold me for a little while. It is possible to write C programs, BTW, which execute out of the RAM card drive. This will save on space taken from the internal RAM. Unfortunately, you need to be an Atari developer to get the information on how to do this. (Atari is presently treating the technical documentation as proprietary.) I hope to see support for the serial port soon. Most everything I communicate with (DECstation, Mac) has a serial port and NO parallel port. I don't need a lot of fancy terminal emulation, but XMODEM or equivalent is essential. I'll let you know how downloads, etc. go.... paul j. drongowski usenet: {decvax, sun, att}!cwjcc!pjd!pjd case western reserve university csnet: pjd@alpha.ces.cwru.edu
