[comp.sys.handhelds] Hello

pete@i-core.UUCP (Pete Ashdown) (01/14/90)

I finally managed to get on to this group. Thanks to the people who emailed
me snippets of HP28S goodies before i-core managed to get .handhelds.

Does anyone have any decent games for the 28S? I started writing a Tetris,
but the normal calls are way too slow to even do a simple game like this. A
friend managed to write a decent artillary game, but it has gone to the
great bit-bucket in the sky since he had to purge it to get space for
school.

Also, is there any sort of way to directly manipulate the bitmap? Is there
a bitmap? I bought Mier-Jedrzejowicz book "Customize Your HP-28." He is
incredibly vague about any sort of bitmap at all. In that book he also
mentions the existance of an assembler for the IBM PC, but he doesn't say
where to get it. Does anyone have it?

Last, what's the poop on this new HP-48? Sounds terrific, but should I
sell? With all those features, it sounds like it is going to be the size of
the HP-71, which isn't too attractive in the student/backpack/chair-desk
scenario. Is it the same size as the HP-28 or comparable? Maybe they'll
triple fold it :-).
