[comp.sys.handhelds] TRS-80 Handheld

After all the flaming about changing the name of this group, and not
seeing anything about the trs80, I'd like to put my $0.02 in:

I have a trs-80 pocket computer (version 1, before there was any PC-n,
n>=1). It has a 22-character yellow LCD screen and those teensy-weensy
chikelet keys. The problem is that about two years ago I accidentally
had it in my knapsack with a lot of other heavy books and broke the screen.
The outside plastic (polarizer) is still OK, and the liquid hasn't leaked
out, but I would like very much to repair it. Any suggestions?

Radio Shack hasn't been much help, so I took it apart to see what kind of
a job it would be. As long as I can get a new screen, I think that's
all is wrong with it.

I have a Sharp PC-1211, which is what Tandy badge engineered into your
device, and I have exactly the same problem (different cause tho'; it slid
out of its hard case and hit the *underside* of a corner of the desk.)

If Tandy are giving you bad service (don't they always ;-) why not try
Sharp. As I say, the calculators are identical.

Best of luck, and let us know how you get on!
