I had the opportunity to speak with an engineering student from Texas A&M this afternoon. He has been working on the HP-28S for some time, but has no access to email or netnews yet (maybe by tomorrow :-). In the course of the conversation I found out that he has met the challenge given in the Meir book to find a syseval for translating arbitrary strings to names. #044EDh change string to name !! there MUST be a string on the stack !! #26753h change anything to string (like ->STR but 'ABC' is changed to "ABC", not "'ABC'") These were discovered by Rick Gravelle. An appropriate name for #044EDh SYSEVAL would obviously be "Gravellization". Alonzo Gariepy alonzo@microsoft

As I called the original "Ianization", how about "Ricketization" for these? There are serious uses for this technique. Stuff for another book? Wlodek Mier-Jedrzejowicz, Space Physics, Imperial College, London From: umapd51@suna.cc.ic.ac.uk (W.A.C. Miev-Jedrzejowicz) Path: suna!umapd51

Now, with the HP 48 and custom menus, the need is completely gone. Rick Grevelle has done some impressive work, which I think he will post as an addendum to Toonen's SYSEVAL map. His biggest achievement is a plot program for graphs larger than the screen. I think the 48 pretty much obsoletes that work, but if anyone is interested, you can contact Rick about his HP 28 plot package at Rick Grevelle <sigma.tamu.edu!ftg0673> Alonzo Gariepy alonzo@microsoft
