If the main difference is that the A version cannot print a handful
of special characters, that's not such a big deal. But what about
graphics? This conversation leads me to believe that you cannot
'hot-key' the screen from the hp48 to the hp82240A, the way you
could with the 28, using on-L. What's the word on this one?

The character set is hard coded in the printer's ROM whereas graphics
are sent using an escape sequence followed by numbers which tell the
printer how many dot columns are to be printed and which dots to turn on.
These numbers are the same for both the HP82240 A and B which means
graphics (including printing an image of the display) will print the same
on both versions of the printers. The keys to 'hot-key' the screen on the
HP48 are ON-MTH.

No problem. I can print the screen to an hp82240A using ON-PRINT.
This works for the EquationWriter too. You must be sure that the
system flag -34 is clear. Graphics have nothing to do with the new
character set in the B printer; they operate identically on both.
