[net.micro] new pc from Radio Shack

vax2:kurt (03/28/83)

Has anybody else seen the new computer from Radio shack? It is portable,
has an integral modem, 8 line by 40 column LCD with variable intensity
display, built in BASIC, phone/address software, calendar, and word
processing. It has a regular keyboard with most of the ASCII keys, memory
expansion to 32k (?) and costs only $749(!) Pretty neat machine.
Apparently it was announced Friday 3/25.

The LCD is large enough to be useful as a sort of limited screen. This is
the first portable (in my opinion) to have a usefully large display. The
days of the computer-in-a-briefcase are near at last.

for those of you interested in radio shack's newest
addition to their fine line of micros, see the may '83 issue
of "popular computing". it contains an in-depth review of
the new t-100.
my local computer store already has one but it seems
that the salesmen keep taking home to play with !!!!

The latest Computers & Electronics issue has an in-depth report on
the new PC-100 from Radio Shack that reveals its innards and some
rather outstanding qualities for such a small machine. If there
is a big enough response, I could shovel some of this info onto the
net...
