HP did put a full page ad in Byte Magazine when the HP-75C was first
introduced, in late 1982 or early 1983.  I do not ever remember any 71
ads, however.

The FFT is a DFT (Fast Fourier Transform = a speedier algorithm for 
calculating the Discrete Fourier Transform.)
