Dear fellow 48SXers, I can't help getting a strange feeling whenever I stumble across message headers like "NEW BUG" or "SERIOUS PROBLEMS..." - seems I did the same mistake as many times before: just couldn't wait to get "a new toy" (NO! I don't think that calculators are toys - or at least not HPs...). I can remember the times when I worked hard to afford myself the 34C - and not a single classmate dared to ask "eh, I forgot my calculator, could I use yours?" because he couldn't handle RPN... Then there came the 15C - same features, smaller size and less power hungry than the 34C. Up to now I *love* the design of this calculator. When I first heard about the 28C I couldn't believe it! So, goodbye 15C, hello 28C - and I never thought that this gadget could be topped... ...until I read about the 28S in BYTE magazine. First I was laughing and told my friend "Hey look! I've got this 28C for about one year, and it seems that BYTE finally recognized this machine! Ha ha ha, they call it 28S - here in germany its 28C (b'cause we're "over-c-s"), ha ha. Lets read on... 32 kB of RAM?" At this point my conversation stopped, and the RAMfever could be seen in my eyes. Well, guess what, some weeks later (working hard) I "swapped" the 28C with the 28S. Then I heard about this newsgroup and got this nervous kind of feeling when there were rumours about the next step: expandable, serial interface, faster: BINGO - and now I'm *VERY* happy to own the 48SX: a friend of mine sent it to me from the U.S. - but it's REV A ROM! I got this thing 3 weeks before my local dealer got one (also REV A). So now my final question: will an old HPfreak be able to upgrade to REV x (the one with reliable KERMIT and fixed "anomalies") without having to buy a new 48SX? Will I have to fly over the ocean just to swap my 48? Will my local dealer exchange the 48 (but I didn't buy it there)? Stay tuned to this newsgroup, and maybe you'll read all the answers to my questions - if someone out there in netland (HP?) has solutions to my pro- blems, feel free to email: I'll try to summarize to this newsgroup. "You'll find it inside the HP interface kit" - right, but buying a $30+ cable would spoil all the fun!
