Okay,
I don't feel so bad now. I've been dying to ask for months
what "IMHO" means (or was that "IHMO", I can't remember). I've been
reading the net for a couple of years now and I'd never seen that
before I started. (I did get the scoop on :-), though). Jeeze, do I
feel dumb or what? :-) (just for Andrew so he doesn't)

:-) is a smiley face. Just turn your monitor 90 degrees to see the
eyes ":", nose "-", and mouth ")". Likewise, :-( is a sad face. Someone
on rec.humor must have 200 of these in a canonical list. You use :-) to
show sarcasm, irony, or to say "Hey, only kidding!"

IMHO is "In My Humble Opinion" and means "I know I'm right" :-)

In My Humble Opinion :-)

rayde@hpcvia.CV.HP.COM (ray_depew) (06/06/90)

Here's the original source of "IN My Humble Opinion":

Lucy's in the outfield, Charlie Brown is on the mound. The batter hits
a high one to the outfield.

Lucy says "I've got it! I've got it!"

Charlie Brown yells "Don't say you've got it until you're sure you've
got it!"

Lucy, still watching the ball, responds "In my humble opinion, I think
I've got it..."

You're welcome.

I believe (. .) is used for irony, or is that a local swedish custom?
(I don't think so)
