[comp.sys.handhelds] Airport X-Ray Machines and HP48

sterling@cbmvax.commodore.com (Rick Sterling) (06/04/90)

Anyone at HP care to comment on possible effects from Airport X-Ray machines
on the HP48SX? Mine was erradiated about 20 times in the last 3 weeks....
One of the monsters was placarded with a sign that said ... "This X-RAY
machine is NOT film safe" ( In Hong Kong )

Nah! ;-) The monster x-ray machine was in Hong Kong though.

Let's see...

Philly to Dulles
Dulles to Tokyo
Tokyo to HK
HK to Tokyo
Tokyo to London
London to Hannover
Hannover to London
London to Philly

12 of the 20 exposures were in Dulles and London. I'm thinking about getting a
dosimeter! ;-)

I always am carrying my HP. My policy is to pull it out as I approch the
metal detector, toss on in the little bowl with my keys, and pick it up
after I pass through the detector.

Also, sometimes this lets you show it off to the guards :-).
