A year ago I would have said the answer is simple, provided you don't want too much performance out of the thing. An HP41CX will give you a portable real time controller capable of making a measurement about once a second. A number of multimeters can be used, from the CMT-300 3 digit multimeter to HP's own 3468A 5 digit multimeter. (The last requires an HP-IL interface in the HP41CX.) Data can be stored in non-volatile RAM in the HP41CX or on cassette drives or disc drives. All of this is battery powered and small enough to fit in a briefcase. Unfortunately, about a year ago HP stopped producing the HP41CX. You may still be able to get one from somewhere. EduCALC is your best bet. They will also have details of other parts of the system that may be useful. Their address follows. EduCALC Mail Store 27953 Cabot Road Laguna Niguel CA 92677 USA They may be able to suggest any alternatives if they cannot still supply an HP41CX.
